V Bash

V bash was held on the 26th of Jan 08, at the Arena at Clarke Quay. It was organised by the NUS Student's Union Public Relations Unit (NUSSU PRU). V Bash was a throbbing, pulsating extravaganza of hundreds of young, beautiful people partying to music, a lingerie show, rock performances and risque dances. The emcees of the day included Radio Pulze's Akshay, along with the beautiful Vanessa Lim, of Deal or No Deal fame. Together, they got the crowds jazzed up, beginning with a make-up show that prepared the Stars of the Evening. The theme was Old Hollywood, and all the glitz of a golden era was on show. The energy level was kept up through a drinking game, rock performances by Allura, and a lucky draw. All in all, a fantastic evening.

"International Student Night" Event Pubilicity

This publicity event was organized to create awareness about the annual multi-cultural event called 'International Students Night' (ISN) among NUS students. This year's show was named Arc-en-ciel, which means Rainbow in French, and was organized to display the vibrant nature of NUS and to provide an opportunity for students to present their talents and enjoy and appreciate the beauty of other cultures and their own. Prior to the event, Radio Pulze's emcees aided in disseminating information to the NUS Student body to make the event a bigger success.

Prince George's Park was chosen as a venue for the promotional event because students from many nationalities were accommodated there. Tickets for the cultural night were also sold at this promotional event while the crowd was serenaded by the music of Radio Pulze.

The First Moment Concert

Organised by NUS Students' Fund (NUSSF) and Radio Pulze, this concert is part of a publicity campaign to raise awareness of NUSSF and the types of aids offered.

The concert itself aims to provide our fellow students with an opportunity for interaction and celebration of Valentine, love and friendships on the eve of Valentine's Day. Rock bands from various NUS Halls of Residences, namely the Twamudas from Eusoff Hall and the Raffles Hall Band, as well as local uprising pop-rock band, Stentorian, will be performing their gigs for a night full of tasty music. Also to liven up the occasion are interactive fun games with great prizes to be won by participants. Last but not least, a mass dance which comes last would enhance interaction and enjoyment among the audience, particularly among guys and girls out there!

NUS Civil Engineering Day

Every year, the NUS Civil Engineering Club has a special day for its students and faculty to come together for some carnival-style fun. Games stalls are set up and lucky draws are organised. Akshay from Radio Pulze introduced the games and kept up a running commentary throughout the day. The highlight was a competition to build the strongest structure using nothing but ice-cream sticks and super-glue. The students never failed to amaze as they built strong and aesthetically beautiful contraptions that held an astonishing amount of weight. Finally, the excitement was built up to a lucky-draw at the end of the day where everyone stood a chance to win an Ipod Nano.

17 Feb '08

NUS Biathlon

Participants of the NUS Biathlon gathered at East Coast Park as early as 5am to prepare themselves both physically and mentally for the whole day. This event is truly an excellent showcase of sportsmanship as the participants are expected to both swim and run altogether within a few hours. At the same time, our emcees Chee Kiang and Cindy helped to hype up the whole event despite the immense heat and a slight disruption in the sound system where they had to resort to using loud hailers eventually. All in all, this event was a success and everyone enjoyed themselves.

"The Kallang Roar" is a local production about passion and sacrifices. Based on true accounts and historical references, this movie allows us to relive the struggles of Singapore's very own soccer legends, and pay tribute to all the soccer heroes from Singapore and Malaysia in the 1970s.

Radio Pulze is honoured to be engaged as the official emcee for the press conference, as well as covering this news about local production on air.

Clearly, NUS Open House 2008 was not only informative, but also a showcase of what entails the life of NUS students. Visitors had a chance to view presentations, and go on guided tours around the campus and hostels to complete the NUS Experience.

NUS Civil Engineering Day '07

Dbl O is not exactly threatened by LT4. Life as a lecture theatre for students of the Civil Engineering Department, is not really groovy, I assure you. And so, one fine day GOD decided that house flies, Buddhimas (:P), rebels in Cuba, Indian rockstars and of course, our dear LT4 were not to be estranged from the frivolities of life anymore; and that day, LT4 witnessed the biggest event of the Civil Engineering Department - Civil Engineering Day, 2007! Radio Pulze had some punk rock lined up for the occasion, which excited the otherwise placid ‘Civilians’ (Civil Engineering Students) and set the mood for the day.

With what, a nice turnout, funky games, mouth watering food, and cool prizes for the lucky Civilians, it was some atmosphere! The emcee, Karthik, from Radio Pulze freely used his liberty as the only person with a microphone around, to talk crap and in general add some noise to the place.

The professors joined their students and had their share of fun too. 4 hours and one hungry Karthik later, the event came to an end. To say the least, it was a pleasure hosting this funky event, which had a lot of energy in the air, thanks to the Civilians.

NUS Biathlon 2007

“Good morning everyone and welcome to the NUS Biathlon 2007!” Karthik’s voice rang in the wet and wild event of that sunny Sunday morning at East Coast Park. 8 o’clock saw a crowd of people queuing up to get themselves body-marked (getting their participant numbers drawn on their limbs).

While Michelle and Karthik kept the participants and their families (including some very adorable dogs) updated about when which events were about to start, the DJ crew - Swathi, Fiona, Priscilla, and Neha kept the crowd going with feet-tapping, adrenaline pumping beats.

Needless to say that after a good 7 hours of playing amazing music, watching hundreds of athletes of different ages start and complete the different waves of the competition and keeping the crowd entertained with constant commentary, the energetic Radio Pulze team were slightly drained as the event drew to an end.

10 Mar - 11 Mar '07

NUS Open House

Venue: Sports & Recreation Centre, Kent Ridge, NUS

Under the sweltering heat, it was no surprise to see the crowd’s enthusiasm waning. However, together with the engaging exhibitions by the respective sports, interest groups and faculties, our undeterred Radio Pulze hosts of the day won the day over with their cheery dispositions and upped the fun factor through various games. There was a Scavenger hunt, a picture hunt, and a puzzle game using flour.

Radio Pulze hosts Aaron and Brendan made sure the trip to the NUS Open House 2007 was more than just an informative one, but also an initiation as well as a showcase of what entails the life of NUS students.

The various sports and interest groups, halls, and faculties displayed their cultures - and truly, many showcased their talents with gusto. The more memorable ones were the martial arts displays at the basketball courts. Karthik, the host in charge of the sports club area, would definitely attest to the impressiveness of the swift moves and the exciting performances put up by the various sub-divisions of the NUS Sports club.

The various dance performances in the main hall also added to the fun and vibrant atmosphere, while showing prospective students that uni life need not only be all work - play can be part of the university quotient as well!

Tri-University Sports Haven 2007

The Tri-University Sports Haven 2007 (TUSH '07)! One of the most eagerly anticipated tertiary bashes of the year jointly organized by the sports clubs of the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Management University; held at DXO. Michelle and Dylan were there to host the bash which started off with a rousing performance by Singapore Idols and NUS's very own Jasmine Tye!

Things gradually heated up with the main event of the night: the TUSHalicious Pageant where the search for the hottest couple in DXO was on! The criteria for winning: have the most delicious butt around! Pageant contestants were picked from amongst the party-goers and our two dynamic hosts had a ball of a time putting them through several very suggestive tasks to earn points from the panel of TUSHalicious judges. The night ended with a bang with another performance by Jasmine Tye and local beatboxer Charles in a duet that got the crowd cheering!
